Obituary

Selmer G. Dahl, 83, of Redfield, SD and formerly of Crosby, ND, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at his home in Redfield.

His body has been cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date.

Selmer was born October 13, 1924 in Forthun Township, Burke County, ND to Gustav and Marie (Martinson) Dahl. He graduated from Columbus High School in Columbus, ND in 1943. Selmer and Marion were married April 9, 1963. Selmer was a life-long farmer. He starting singing in a quartet in the early 1940's and sang for funerals for over forty years.

He enjoyed woodworking and was curious about many different scientific activities.

Selmer is survived by his wife Marion of Redfield, SD; two sons: Jon (Brenda) Dahl of Sidney, MT; and Arne (Kristie) Dahl of Faribault, MN; and two daughters: Bonita (Debry) Radtke of Redfield, SD; and Amy (Reverend Aaron) Filipek of Olathe, KS. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and his sister Norma Heafield of Glendive, MT and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Jorgen, Melvin and Arvid, one sister Olga McAllen and brothers-in-law Paul McAllen and Gordon Heafield.
