Wanda Adell Dawson, 85, of Redfield, SD died Wednesday, April 03, 2013 at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield. Her funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at First Congregational UCC Church in Redfield. Reverend Tim Fugman will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 1-8:00 p.m. with the family present from 5-7:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. www.thelenfuneralhome.com
Wanda was born December 21, 1927 in Tulare, SD to Harry and Theo (Kenison) Binger. She graduated from Tulare High School and attended one year of college. She was a teacher's aide at Redfield Public School and worked for a few years at James Valley Nursing Home. Wanda married Kenneth Dawson on February 7, 1951 in Huron and they farmed southwest of Redfield.
She enjoyed playing cards, reading to her grandchildren, fishing and spending time with their friends at the Missouri River. Wanda and Kenny traveled all across the United States and went south for many winters.
She was a member of the First Congregational UCC Church and women's fellowship, American Legion Auxiliary and Community Club.
Wanda is survived by her daughter Peggy (Bill) Rose of Colorado Springs, CO and their children: Tony, Jenna and Tim; and her son Scott (Kerry) Dawson of Redfield and their children Jacob and Lindsey (Brock) Moulton. She is also survived by her three great grandchildren, her sister Shirley Bradfield of Huron, SD; her brothers: Rolla (Elaine) Binger of Tulare, SD and Lanny (Jan) Binger of Wichita, KS; and her sister-in-law Barb Binger of Redfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenny on July 30, 2012 and her brother Clayton Binger.
