Kelly C. Hyke

Kelly C. Hyke

Owner / Funeral Director and Embalmer / Spink County Coroner

Kelly grew up in Bowman, North Dakota. After graduating from Bowman High School in 1986, he attended Bismarck State College and received an Associate of Arts degree.  He then spent 18 years in law enforcement in North Dakota. 

In 2000, Kelly attended and received his degree in Mortuary Science from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Wheeling, Illinois, outside of Chicago. After graduating in 2001, he returned to Beulah, North Dakota where he was employed by Seibel Funeral Homes. 

Kelly, his wife Bonnie, and their children, Megan and Adam, moved to Redfield and he started working for Thelen Funeral Home in May of 2006. On December 1, 2015, Kelly and Bonnie purchased the funeral home from Pat Thelen.

Kelly is a licensed funeral director and embalmer in both North and South Dakota. He is currently the Secretary/Treasurer for the South Dakota Funeral Directors Association and serves on the Executive Board.

Community service is very important to Kelly.  He is a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church where he serves on the Parish Council, is a Eucharistic Minister, and sings in the church choir. Kelly is also a member of the Redfield Kiwanis, the Redfield Knights of Columbus, and the Fraternal Order of Police.  Kelly previously served as Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 128 and Unit Commissioner for Sioux Council Boy Scouts. 

Kelly also serves as the Spink County Coroner and the sexton for St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery.

Bonnie Hyke

Bonnie Hyke

Owner/Funeral Assistant

Bonnie grew up in Alexander, Manitoba, Canada, and attended Brandon University.  She moved to the United States when she married Kelly Hyke.  Bonnie retired from her career as a Canadian Customs Officer when their daughter was born and she worked as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) prior to moving to Redfield in May of 2006.  

When Kelly and Bonnie purchased the funeral home in December of 2015, Bonnie worked at the funeral home around her full-time job at Redfield High School. In June 2016, she began working at the funeral home full-time.

Brent Osborn

Brent Osborn

Funeral Assistant / Spink County Deputy Coroner

Brent started working at the funeral home in August 2013 as a funeral assistant.

Brent is a 1991 graduate of Redfield High School and 1995 alumni of Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD. Brent, and his wife Michelle, reside in Redfield and have four sons: Bennett, Owen, Peyton, and Camden.

Brent is active in St. Bernard Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Family Crisis Center, Redfield Baseball Association, and as a youth baseball coach. He is also an agent for DeSmet Farm Mutual Insurance and Redfield Realty.

Brent serves the county as a Spink County Deputy Coroner.

Marleen Huckabay

Marleen Huckabay

Office Manager / Funeral Assistant

Marleen started working at the funeral home in March of 2016 as a part-time Office and Funeral Assistant. In September 2018, she became our full-time Office Manager and Funeral Assistant. 

Marleen previously spent 40 years as an emergency 911 dispatcher and had worked at the Spink County Sheriff’s office since 1996.  She served as the chief dispatcher for the last several years before retiring at the end of 2015.  Marleen and her husband, James are active in the community of Redfield.

Dale Fiedler

Dale Fiedler

Funeral Assistant

Dale started working at Hyke Funeral Home in 2016 on a casual basis. 

Dale taught instrumental music at Redfield Public School for 33 years. After retiring from teaching, he was employed at the Eastern Star Home in Redfield for seven years before retiring in May of 2017.  He has been very active in several community organizations.

Connie Fiedler

Connie Fiedler

Funeral Assistant

Connie started working at Hyke Funeral Home in 2016 on a casual basis.

Connie retired in May 2017 from the Eastern Star Home in Redfield where she was the Business Manager-Assistant Administrator for 21 years. Connie and her husband Dale moved to Redfield in May 1977 and they have one son.

Frank Krumm

Frank Krumm

Transportation Specialist / Spink County Deputy Coroner

Frank Krumm is a transportation specialist and Deputy Coroner. 

Frank is a retired member of the South Dakota Highway Patrol.  He has been serving as the Spink County Sheriff since January 1, 2019.  

He enjoys spending time with his children and grandchildren.  He was married for 30 years to his best friend, Sue, who passed away in 2018.
